Crowns & Veneers

To improve your smile, you may be in need of crowns, veneers or other dental restorations to replace missing teeth.

Veneers

A very thin shell of porcelain is permanently bonded to the surface of the tooth for cosmetic purposes. It may be used to improve stained or discoloured teeth, chipped or broken teeth, crooked or misaligned teeth or gaps between widely spaced teeth. A new veneer looks and feels like a natural tooth, and treatment only involves two visits. Veneers are often used in conjunction with tooth whitening.

Crowns

A crown is an artificial cap which fits over the prepared tooth in order to restore its natural appearance and function. It may be used to repair teeth or improve their appearance:
Damaged teeth where ordinary filling materials will be insufficient for repair.
Aesthetics – correcting crooked or misshapen teeth as well as replacing large and unsightly fillings.
Aesthetic metal-free and gold crowns are available. Treatment only involves two visits.
It may also be used to reconstruct damaged teeth.

Replacing Missing Teeth

The following are all ways of replacing missing teeth, each with their different benefits. It would be necessary to discuss with one of our dentists the most appropriate treatment to suit your own individual requirements.

Dentures

These may be metal or plastic and will be costed upon consultancy.

Bridges

Conventional bridges involve crowns being placed on teeth either side of a gap, in order to support an artificial replacement tooth.

Adhesive Bridges

These have wings that stick to the adjacent teeth to hold the artificial tooth in place. They require less tooth preparation than a conventional bridge, but are not suitable in all areas of the mouth.
